Teams of Helpers - Your Team Leader is the Registrar. As well as reporting in to the Helper Coordinator at Monkton Boathouse, please report to your Team Leader when you arrive. If, later, you need help, please contact him or her first.
Collect a list of crews by racing order from the office in good time before crews start launching.
Mark each crew that leaves the landing stage, recording a time if possible.
When the last crew has left, go to the office and hand the list in.
New advice in 2014: every effort will be made to send boats up to the start in the correct order. Marshalls up the course will encourage boats to maintain this order. To help them to do this, they need a list of the boats which have launched in the order in which they pass upstream of the rafts. Write down the numbers in the order in which they pass you, and send them in batches to the event headquarters which is either on the Avon balcony or at the bottom of the stairs below the balcony. You may be given a radio to do this, or it may be easier just to have a direct conversation, during which you give batches of boat numbers to the helper at event HQ.
It is important that we have a complete record of crews which leave the rafts so that we can work out which crews are missing.
Please mark on your list the time at which the boats were put on the water. There is no need to time every crew, just the first time the last and a few in the middle of the list.
If the event is providing shoe bags for the crews, you will be responsible for issuing bags to representatives of crews and recording the number of the bag issued against a number.
