The national junior sculling head was founded when the Schools Head Race had more entries than it could cope with safely. It used to be held at Henley, but moved to Dorney Lake some years ago.
The lake is not long enough to hold a traditional head race, so crews are timed over two or three races which each take up most of the course, leaving some room at each end for turning round.
There is plenty of room for spectators and good views of racing.
Parking for spectators is usually at some distance from the boat trailers. We hope to have a Monkton tent placed somewhere along the course.
Racing goes on from about 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
If you intend to support for any length of time, it will be worth bringing a chair to sit on.
